I found a canister, on the passenger side, between the battery and coolant resevoir, down low. It has a plug on top of it, however, mine isnt plugged in and there are 2 wires that are taped off next to it. What is that and why do you think the wires are cut off from it ?

It is the accumulator for your air conditioning system, and that thing taped off to the side is probably a high-pressure switch for the A/C.

if the pressure in the AC system gets too low, the pressure switch will turn it off so it doesnt circulate, if you had a leak someone might have rigged it so it worked a little while longer, and/or if the switch was bad.

Often those wires will be disconnected by someone intentionally to prevent the A/C clutch from engaging either due to a bad clutch or a bad A/C compressor.

Is the corresponding connector still on the wires, or were they cut?
