Need help...(And lots of it, anyway)

I am buying my sho in April or sooner. What deck is good priced, sounds good and what fits an 89?

Subs. Should I put them in the back where the stock speakers were, or buy ones with a box? I need good prices for these. Ricky?

And should I leave the speakers in the doors the same, or will the back just drown the front? I really know squat about systems. I would like to learn, but school seems to be such a chore...

Thank You all for any and all help...

-Mike

Any 1din stereos will fit the stereo spot. As for pricing it depend on how much you want to spend. I like Kenwwod, JVC, or Alpine. Pioneer is good for if you have a budget. Kenwwod has very good quality, nice features and are nice looking.
I dont know if the 89 has a space for a sub but I wouldnt recomend it. If you want to go bumping around get 2 subs in a sealed box. If you want extra bas go with one sub in like a truck box. MTX makes good subs. JL are good as well but are designed to be run in 3s but can be done in 2's. Pioneer are good again for if you have a budget but even MTX's 4000 series are cheap and sound nice.
As for front speakers up grade them. I would suggest buying a 4 channel amp and powering the front and back speakers on that. Then run the subs off their own amp. You dont want to have the back being your only sound it will sound un even and mostly bass. You might even want to install tweeters in the front. I did that and it really helps.
If you have any other questions, or want this explained further you can email me.

Couldn't of said it better LOUDSHO.

Mike .... if you need a deal on audio stuff let me know. You can check out my site if you want (link on bottom). Its still under constuction, so some of the internal links arn't there. Just so you know how my lay-out is ...

I have a JVC head unit. It has 3 RCA out puts. Front/Rear/Sub-woofer controls. Model # KD-SH99.

All interior speakers have been replaced with MA Audio 5x7s and 5 1/4. They are powerd by a MA Audio amp (400 watts rms) useing the factory wires. When installing the head unit to connect to the factory harness I recieved a "factory amp by-pass" cable. It comes with the install harness. If you look at the pic below, you will notice that I cut off the end coming from the head unit. Thus giving me enough wire to connect to the amp sending a signal to the speakers. I have 3 sets of RCAs running to the back of the car. So no need of me sending a signal to the back by factory wires.

If your on a budget but still want a good sound, don't go with a 2 amp set-up. I was going to go with a 1 amp ~ 6 channel. but then changed my mind. If money is no object ..... Go with a 2 amp set-up. The subwoofer RCA is connected to that amp pictured below. This amp (800 watts rms) is running mono, there is no high or mid frequency coming out.

Notice one of the speakers hanging from the rear deck. My system has a cost of about $2,750 and i'm not done. I'm upgrading all interior speakers, adding a cap, and going with a 3 12" sealed box. I currently have a 2 12" band-pass. But when I last tuned the amp (at a auto-X) it fried on the way home. For the time being i'm running 2 10" bass tubes with lil or no power coming from the amp.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line at ... mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A>

Mike .... I got your E-mail. I just lost internet access at home. But I do have it at work. I'm sorry for the long delay. I forgot to bring my paper work with me with your prices. I did send you a E-mail on most of the stuff you asked for. The only price you need is for the remote to make the neons beat to the music. I'll try to get that while i'm still at work so I can post it for you. If you have any questions ... send them to mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A>. I can access this account from work. The other one I can't.
