I finally got it done. I bought the hand pump similar to what Bruce uses and also a 12 volt pump that Silver reccomended. I wound up using the 12 volt and feeding the tube from the top. I'm not sure I got all the old fluid out, it was pretty thick, but I topped it off and will run her a week maybe 2 and change it again. It was pretty simple and saved me from paying about $180.00 at the local Ford dealer. Thank again guys, my beer IOU is getting bigger.

OK so I drained the PTU again this morning and then took it out for a 50 mile cruise on the highway. I let it cool down for about an hour and changed the fluid again. It is getting slightly thinner but still looks like **** and smells even worse. I want to to do this a couple more times and then fill it with Royal Purple which I heard was the best lubricant I could use for it.

My question is, how much oil does it take to fill the PTU when its fully drained?

It is not uncommon for gear **** to be pretty black and stinky...even after a relatively short time. I would pay more attention to the consistency - how thick or thin it is - rather than the color. It sounds like you are doing things correctly but I wouldn't be terribly alarmed at the color or smell.
