I'm going to look at a 2016 SHO this Friday. Brand new w/ all the bells and whistles. Anything particular I need to know? With all the discounts going on this month it's a great deal. Just wondering a few things. What is the average gas mileage you've been getting in town/highway. Do you put on snow tires in the winter or do you run w/ the stock tires year round? Any other tips etc you might be able to give me is greatly appreciated.

I've averaged 23.1 mpg in just over two years of having mine, but that's 90% highway driving. It drops like a rock once I start driving in the city. I am in central ohio, not a ton of snow but with all seasons it feels like a tank. If you are in an area that gets more than 4-6 inches at a time you might want to go with winter tires.

Ours gets mostly city driving, sitting in traffic. Computer tells me that the average is 20.something MPG. Did take it on a road trip from Minneapolis to Colorado Springs last summer, and averaged 25 MPG, travelling at 80+ most of the way. I'm sure I could have improved that number simply by staying off the throttle a little more, but would have liked the drive a lot less, the car was awesome out on the road like that.

We ran the OE Michelin all seasons for the first winter, but my wife slid into a curb and messed up a rim, LF hub and the alignment. Easy enough fixes, but we got a set of true winter tires, and that has increased the winter traction feel quite a bit. Went to an 18" rim to get away from the low profile for winter as well, and have not regretted it at all. I did not really think that the car was bad in the snow, with all of the traction control, etc, it aids the driver enough to be noticeable.

A couple years into owning ours, and just approaching 30,000 miles, we have no regrets at all about the purchase.

I've only got 600 miles on mine and two weeks of ownership. I can't answer most of the questions, but you are right, there are some awesome deals on cars right now, especially if they have been on the lot awhile and fully loaded. You can basically get all the options for free. I'm very happy with the car I got for the price I paid.

I appreciate all the responses. I currently drive a Focus ST and I get 30 on the highway and about 23-25 in town depending. It's the first 4 cylinder car I've ever owned. I've always been a V-8 guy. 72 Chevelle SS, 79 Camaro RS, 78 Monza 2+2, 93 Cobra, 98 Cobra, 01 Cobra, 04 Cobra, 04 Lightning, 08 GT500, 10 Harley Edition F-150, 12 Harley Edition F-150. I'm getting older (45) but still young but I'm noticing my tastes are changing and I'm moving for the "Dad" type of car but w/ that performance factor. I'm going to look at the SHO tomorrow and traveling almost 3 hrs to purchase it. I'm going to look at a white one (3hrs away and $37k) and a black one (1 ¾ hrs away and $38K). I'm not a fan of driving this far as I used to do it for 15 mos every day. So hopefully I can swing a deal and get a decent price on my trade.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck tomorrow car shopping.
I've gotten around 29mpg highway, using adaptive cruise. Around town I average around 20mpg.

In terms of driving in winter on OEM tires, I have been able to get away with driving on the factory non-performance package Michelins in NE PA winters, as long as I am careful. If you have the performance package, your tires are definitely not snow-ready.

I traded in my 2014 Focus ST and picked up a 2013 SHO. Two things I noticed right away are the size of the SHO and the handling. I'm still trying to get used to how big it is. I can't just zip in and out of traffic like I used to.

I felt the exact same way as you. My last car was about the same size as your old one. This feels so friggin huge at first. It isn't as big as it feels. Took me about 1000 miles and a few weeks to get more used to it. Granted I can't toss it around like my 06 GTO, but it's nimble enough.

I'm having more trouble getting used to the quiet! I have got to do something about the exhaust......soon!

I went from a Yukon XL to the SHO, feeling pretty zippy here.

Welcome! You have found a great site! I have to agree with Livernois... my tip would be to make sure you install a package ASAP after buying. You won't regret it for one second. I am sure you have read up on all the posts between a SHO PP vs SHO Non-PP? If you plan to track your car (sounds like you are not), I would suggest the Performance Package (PP). If you are just wanting to have a rocket for a fun driving car... go with the Non-PP. It has some of the better comforts for daily driving. Like the adaptive cruise control for one. It also includes a spare tire!

But looking at your long list of cars, I will admit, when your first question is about gas mileage ... I am like "wwwwwhaaat???" Maybe it was just a typo haha. :p
Seriously, get the SHO - probably nothing like your ST, but "better" in a whole new way!!! (all subjective...)

What I was saying about the gas mileage is this. I've NEVER had it w/ any of those other vehicles. Now I have the Focus ST and I pull 30+ mpg all day on the highway and 25 in town. I actually like driving a month on a tank of gas. Never having great gas mileage to having it. It's like something I've been missing this whole time. Plus I'm torn w/ the 0% for 72 I currently have on this car. There's lots of incentives on the SHO's but 0% for 72 isn't one of them. If I could get the 0% for 60 I'd probably jump on it. Just waiting on the dealer to crack. I'm in no hurry to buy.

Welcome and good luck on your search. My 2015 P/P is platinum white, which makes it an instant sleeper except for those who understand these cars.

I would offer a different perspective about the performance package. No disagreement you can't get active cruise and collison warning, both of which are great systems. For me, the brake and suspension enhancements, plus the additional coolers, were more important in my daily driver.

Whatever decision you make, I'm sure you will enjoy. These are awesome cars.

Picked her up on Saturday! I was at the dealership for 5hrs! They only had one finance person working as the other was on "vacation". All in all the dealership was pretty good to me. First time there. Just had my Blizzaks put on this morning too! Another question. Anyone installed the remote start/alarm in their vehicle? I'm a techy guy and like the extended range the phone would give for remote start purposes. Also, thanks again for all the replies. Lovin' this car so far. Way more comfortable (& faster) than my Focus ST. The trunk space is next to ridiculous too!
