Depends, is it now just a parts car? Pull the bumper and everything around the motor cut the core support out of it. Work though that area to get to as much as you can. If you take the torque converter nuts off through the starter hole the engine can come out of the top, but just barely.

Maybe easier to drop out the bottom

I figured it would be easier to just drop the subframe.

Here is what I started with

After 2 hours I ended up with this.

After 5 hours I had the empty subframe back in the car and my garage all packed up ready for the next session.

I didnt realize how big the ATX is compared to an MTX. Its HUGE.

Next will be to strip the 3.2 accessories and prep for the MTX accessories.

Stay tuned

A marvel of engineering - why we love 'em. Best wishes as you progress. I used to own a 93 ATX for many years.

The 3.2 has been well maintained its whole life. I had just put a ton of work into it before the crash. It only has 152KM on it. All it needs is to run again. My box of goodies should be here tomorrow from SHO SOURCE. My goal is to have the swap complete by July 21.

Stay tuned....

Is anybody interested in the ATX? It was rebuilt about 20,000km ago with a shift kit and huge cooler.

Slight road block tonite. I tried to loosen the crank pulley bolt with no luck. Any ideas on how to jam the crank so I can loosen it up? Is it left hand or right hand thread?

The rope trick worked awesome. Thanks intimdatr for the tip.

I made some decent progress and got the timing covers removed and cleaned up.

Do I need to remove the oil pan to get the bottom piece off?

The 'bottom piece' you are talking about is the oil pump. You do have to remove the oil pan to get the oil pump off, but there is really no reason to take it off unless you have having the block hot tanked or something....

Ok Thanks, Will I have to fill a gap if I use the 3.2 oil pump with the 3.0 Timing setup, or can I just leave it as is?

I used the 3.0 oil pump so that the 3.0 timing covers matched up. I think it has been done about every imaginable way, so whatever you decide will work just fine.

Made some more progress. One question, is the Harness that plugs into the DIS, Cam position sensor and AC compressor the same for all SHO's? See pic below. I'd like to keep this one in place since it is the newest of all my SHO harnesses.

More progress!! I separated the bahemeuth ATX from the 3.2L and put the engine on a stand and cleaned the MTX of 20 years of grime.

Here you can see the ATX and MTX.

A few questions.
#1 - Is the small bit of harness that snakes its way through the engine the same for all SHO's From what I can see they are identical. Pic above and below.

#2 - Is there supposed to be one hole that does not line up on the upper right side of the rear timing cover? See pic

My temporary fix to delete the EGR
