Problem with OD Light on 94 ATX SHO

I have a 94 ATX SHO which just had the tranny rebuilt....now the OD light blinks....if I reset the computer it will go away, but comes back after 125 miles of highway miles. If I drive around town it stays off....Only comes on after about 125 high speed driving miles.....If it comes on and I pull over and reset the computer it will go away but again comes back after 125 miles of highspeed driving.....HELP

Try disconnecting the battery and then turn the headlights on to completly drain the memory storage.

After about 10 mins of disconnected batter/headlight on. Turn the headlights off and reconnect the battery.

I had a similar problem when I had mine rebuilt, but it may be a diffrent scenario.

Is it randomly blinking or blinking a sequence of grouped flashes? The trans may be setting a DTC which definately needs to be checked out. Is the car running fine otherwise, TC locking up, etc.?

I reset it with a craftsman code reader...It runs fine and shifts good....although it does run better when the light is not blinking.....it is a steady blink......Owners manual says to have tranny serviced when this indication appears...tranny shop has no clue..... shrug

Instead of just resetting the indicator, read your KOEO codes! There is probably a code set that relates to the transmission or one of the sensors/actuators upon which it must rely.

Per the service manual, a flashing O/D light indicates that there is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set and that there is a transmission concern.

Your tranny is junk again, i had this happen in my ATX 4 times, each time same result, time for a new one..

take it back to the tranny shop, get your money back and give doug lewis a call.

Yes I had the same problem...It is basically the same as a check engine light but for your tranny! I went through alot of trannies and never got it right!

Fords are good for eating MLPS's or range sensors. If the transmission is working ok, look at the Data Display on your scanner and watch the voltage on the MLPS ( Mulit-lever-position-sensor ) It should start around 4.5 volts and lose .5-.8 volt ( or so ) with each move of the selector. ( example Park = 4.5 Reverse = 3.8 ETC... ) You may also start to get harsh shifts when the OD lamp is flashing. Sometimes the EPC ( electronic pressure control ) will defult to full line pressure when this happens. Also, check the codes. Because it could be setting another internal codes. The MLPS's or range sensor was the problem....I find it's a must to check this after a rebuild.
