By "how much" do you mean how much $$ or what mods would be necessary to do it?

As far as "how much" I'd say more than any Gen 3 owner has spent on mods.

As far as what mods would be necessary, basically every mod anyone makes for the Gen 3 and then some! I would imagine it would involve a lot of custom work to the intake, cams, exhaust, computer, etc.

Or you could drive it off a cliff. I'm no physics major, but there's a good chance you could break into the 13s going vertical.

At our very unofficial strip that used to be highway but got bypassed, mine runs a very fine hair on a stopwatch over 15 seconds at right around 95 mph (for the vast majority of you that are not into metric). That was the best of 3 tries last fall with outside air temp around 15 C (60 F) and humidity fairly low. And the tank was at about 1/4 full. And I am sort of light (6'3". but only 147 lbs., again converted for the non-metric amoung us ).

They claim we are going to get a real drag strip about 30 km from here this summer, and if we do I will take the SHO down for an official timed run, just to satisfy my curiousity. After that I doubt I will bother to do any of this again, since I suspect it is rather ******* the transmission.

In order to get a Gen 3 SHO into the 13's with no outside aspiration you'll need an extra 100 hp or so. So...look for mods that will get you that 100 hp. Frankly I don't believe they exist.

Its NOS for about $500, a Supercharger for about $5000 or a turbo for a few $1000's....you pick.

Either that or cut about 1500 pounds. Which would be tough.

My best is 15.24 @ 91.8 mph.

Not bad for a Gen 3 SHO. The key is the trap speed. Mine pulls hard in the upper rpm range.

I agree with everything LastSHO said.
To get a Gen III into the 13's N/A would require the making of some custom mods that don't yet exist and probably never will unless you pay for the R&D time.

Your best bet would be the mods LastSHO mentioned. For the record my best 1/4 time is [email protected] MPH. This was in 85F heat so it would probably run a little faster in cold weather, but the 13's is a long ways away.

Thanks for the info guys. I think the Gen 3 is a nice car and would love to see a 13 sec. one. I have been thinking about selling my 93mtx and now I think I might sell my Mustang instead or sell both and get a Gen 3. Not sure what I want to do yet. I want a nice car that is fast but is still street driven with all the options. A 13 second Gen 3 would do the trick, but I guess that won't be heppening soon. Thanks again for the info, Mike

14.3 @ 96 mph on a 75 hp shot of nitrous. No Gen III will see 13's N/A unless their car get's caught in a tornado in Tulsa

Fellow Gen III warrior, Scott Waters reached a 13.8 on a 100 hp shot of juice, which is what I'm gunning for.

See ya in my rear-view!

Hey Mike, was that 13 second pass done only on the 100 shot? That would be a great sleeper. Any other mods??

Yep, Scott had the 100 hp jetting as well as a UDP and drag radials to plant the car. I'm still waiting for my first trip to the track this year
