Gang...

I have a predicament.

I could, in theory, pull my cams and send them to someone ( Doug or SHOshop ) to have "fixed" when my wife goes back to Europe for a couple of weeks, I won't need the SHO for a while then and figured, now's a good time.

Which is best and why? What is involved with pulling the cams and how much do you think a shop would charge if I didn't do it myself?

What would Doug's price be if I just sent the cams to be welded?

Thanks all...This info might help more than me I'm sure.

all I can tell you is weld them in the car. the bill you will receive for removing them is heafty. I could do it in 1/2 the time as any mechanic and I would get at least 500.00 to pull them alone.

Whichever way you go, Tim is right, doing it while they remain installed is certainly the best. Both pinning and welding will work. I suspect welding might have a higher mental security factor, but I am told that even an excellent TIG weld does risk micro cracking, though this probably will not matter in the slightest. Pinning seems more flimsy, but again, is likely to be far more than is ever going to be tested to its limits.

I got the SHOSHOP pinned ones, and paid out the ASS. Probly would have welded them if there was anyone around who would have been up to the task.

Have had no problems. (but with 2500 in 'em, I damn sure better not either.)

Listen to Kirk, he's right. f'n tool :p

I'm not impressed with the SHO Shop after getting my pullies (after 3 attempts, still not sure they'll fit).

Anyway, I drove ~2500 miles to FPS to get mine done. I made it part of my holidays. Should have had my tranny done at the same time.
