Anyone ever tried to do a 60k piece by piece? You know, put in like a water pump, camcover gaskets, a few random internal gaskets, ect, on and off until I complete it? I have 146k on my car, think I could run it for a while without a 60k? Its never had one, thats why it worries me. My dad won't let me just collect the parts I need and do it at once, its beginning to frustrate me. I really like my car, and I don't wanna blow it up or end up losing it, so any advice would help.

I would do it bottom first then tackle the top in a little while. Do the timing belt, water pump, and crank sensor first..and maybe a new accessory belt(s). Then tackle the valve lash later. There's not that many parts that eat up storage room to collect for the 60k vs say.. a suspension overhaul with springs, struts, bushings, links etc..

Well the waterpump is screaming right now, but it works, so I wanna replace that one just to keep from hearing that or from maybe having it lock up. I figured as deep as I was gonna get into the side like that to replace it I might as well do all that I can. I have to replace the cam cover seals definately though, they're rubber so they should be okay later when I do the valve lash right? I'll see what all is on my front 60k list, see what all I can get for now. Thanks

Once you get to replacing the waterpump everything else is right there. If you've never done this before it might take a good bit of time to complete, so going back in there later will be the last thing you will want to do. Are the upper seals leaking? If not you should be ok. If so, you should address this soon. It won't ruin your car but it could lead to fouling plugs and/or wires.

Yea, the seals around the plug wells are leaking. I pulled a wire off once and shoved it right back on because I saw it had oil about 2/3 of the way up them. So I need that. 72 bucks for em :oogle: But I'll try and do the front 60k first, I guess it would be kind of a good start since it'll be the most difficult, correct?

It's more work to get everything out of the way. The top was more work for me the 1st time through since I broke 2 bolts and had to use an extractor to get the stubs out and heli-coil one of the holes on the rear head. Not fun.

Ouch :frown: I heard a good way to keep from breaking bolts was to use an impact gun. Wish I had one :nut: I figured getting the stuff off would be the hardest part, or at least the longest part. Thanks for the advice :thumb:
