so i get into my car today and i notice my damn parking brake release cable is just danglin there. i'm like wtf and i pull it and the thing comes out in my hand. The wire was attached to it. I found out that if i pull the metal bar that the wire is supposed to be attached to, i can release the brake. I think the little end ball on the cable must have fallen off or something. Right now i have a coat hanger sitting in my car to release the damn thing each time. lol. how ghetto is that? is this a ford item at the dealship or can i get this somewhere else? anyone know the price too? thanks.

I'm fairly certain it'll be a dealer part, not to say that there aren't others that would work for it. But I'd be willing to bet that you could get one from a salvage yard for fairly cheap.

bizzy, sometimes getting cheap stuff from the boneyard is not worth it, especially if it is a normal wear item like a cable. You may even find that they want more for it, because it may take bob an hour and some knuckle skin to extract one from a junk. Now if you are lucky enough to have a boneyard where the owner says "yeah, I think I got one of them SHO's third row on the left, under the elcamino", go get it yourself" then it's worth it. Unfortunately, in our over litigious society, this type of boneyard is getting hard to find. I used to go to one and I'd spend hours just exploring for the fun of it.
