Like I said, this is not an emergency so I really don't even care when I get any responses........Now, this might sound kinda dumb, but I was at the local junk yard and picked up an extra, whole upper intake. I only payed 30 bucks for it!(they tried to tell me that it was a "high performance" Intake, but when I told them it came off a Taurus, they priced it as a normal intake ;). I'm not even going to say how dumb I felt trying to tell the guy it wasn't high performance, haha) However, it was some corrosion on it. I was going to clean it good, in and out, and then prime it and paint it so I could hang it up. But no one seems to know what the original color is..........Any of u guys tried painting it back to original color? Thanks!

I found a paint that is close, but a little bit too bright and metallicky. Years ago, someone had spray cans mixed up with the original color. To get the best match that's probably what should be done. However, just about any paint you get probably won't hold up to solvents, etc.

Yeah, I actually used to work for a body shop and they could have mixed up some paint in no time! However, look at this. This paint seems to awfully close to the intake color, but it might just be the lighting. Oh, thanks for the response too!

You don't need to prime it the intake before painting. I painted mine with Dupli-color and it holds up very well. Need to be careful working on it though because if you accidentally hit it with a tool, the paint will chip.

NoSlowSHO I think his user name is, painted one that was perfect match for original. I remember seeing it at the indy convention. He might be able to help you. Or if you search posts you might find something.

This was the stuff:

I still have a can or two around. After I put in some reinforced mounts I'm going to see if it's still any good.

Awww, Shoot. I think I might paint it with the paint I posted above, see how it looks, and call it a day. Haha.

Kenny used silver duplicolor wheel paint. Not a perfect match because the stock color has a bit of gold to it, but still looks great.

I know getting hit in the mouth may sound the same, but polishing your intake manifold, using aluminum polish would definitely be better. think of it as protecting it from heat.

IMO, not a bad idea at all. Sometimes I see pics of polished SHO intakes and imagine how mine would look... for be it would be awsome!
