Please help!
I bought my 1994 SHO in 1996. I replaced the oxygen sensors twice. Now I think I have to replace them again. The engine light is coming on and the engine is lacking power.
I want to fix every thing that can cause this expensive problem.
I put premium gas in my car and no additional additives. Sometimes my fuel pump hums. It hums especially when I have the heater on. That's the only thing I can blame.
What can cause these sensors to go out?
I don't guess it's a do it yourself job either?
Thanks, Eddie

If you haven't replaced the fuel pump, it's probably about time. I replaced my fuel pump not long after I got my SHO, and the hum is gone now. As for the O2s, they may need replacing; if you know how, pull the codes. If you don't, SHOTimes has an entire section on troubleshooting the SHO's EEC-IV ignition system.

How are you sure that it is one or both of the O2 sensors? They usually only fail one at a time. To replace both just doubled your parts bill. Go to the topic, "Uh Oh.. Check Engine Light Came On" and follow the links I posted to the SHOtimes FAQ for how to easily check the EEC codes. You will need the three-digit codes. If it is one or both O2 sensors, the codes will confirm it. I replaced my sensors with other sensors that failed within a year. Some parts are just of lower quality than others.
