Ok i've been hearing so much about secondaries that i decided to go check them. First thing i noticed was that the rear secondary was closed and the front was open when engine is off. On engine start both secondaries are closed. When reved to 4 grand the front secondary will open but the rear one will not. When I shut the engine off the rear secondary does not open up it stays closed. I can open up the rear one by hand when the engine is off and when I start the engine the rear secondary will close, but like i said before the rear one will not open up when the engine is off or if its reved to 4 grand. I thought that when there is no vaccum that the secondary should open up. I don't see how it stays closed unless it is not releasing the pressure. Why won't this secondary open up? This ones got me stumped can anyone shed some light on the subject? I apologize if my question is unclear.

hey, i just had a similiar situation this past weekend. have you had your intake off recently? try and trace the hose that connect to the secondary actuators on the manifold, one of them might be pinched somehow. also make sure the connection on the back of the manifold to the secondary controller is secure. let us know if you find anything.

true, what your saying makes sense, but on the SHO few of the problems the car has ever *do* make real sense, so dont count it out entirely, just the bottom of the list. maybe you just need to oil the axle the butterflies sit on. perhaps its time you pull off the intake and take it all apart and clean the snakes and the butterflies. i hate to say your actuator is messed up but that could also be part of the problem i suppose, and i dont know where you would get a replacement for something like that. hopefully someone else will offer some better advice....
ok someone tell me if this sounds right. Is it possible that the secondaries are gummed up somehow and the vaccum can suck them closed but once the vaccum is gone its to gummed up to return to its original position?

It's easy enough to test -- just remove the vacuum line from the secondary in question while the engine is running to see if the butterflies open or stay closed.
