OIL LIGHT

I have noticed that my low oil pressure light is coming on when its idleing. My car idles around 500k is this low and maybe causing the light to come on. The car runs great and I just bought it and don't want to have any problems. The light just flashes a bit, it doesn't stay on. Any ideas are appreciated.

Replace the oil sending unit. If this fixes the problem then your in luck if not then is the oil pump

I replaced my light with an actual oil pressure guage, and the pressure does run very low at idle. However, 500 rmp is below the idle spec, which I seem to recall is closer to 800 rpm. Anyone have that number on tap? Anyway, 500 is too low and actually will be causing your flicker, so you might want to edge it up a bit rather than risk long term wear problems from low pressure.
