Oil Leak?

I am having an oil leak at the oil pan by the pulleys and I need to know what gasket to get? I talked to FordPartsNetwork and they gave me 2 parts numbers:

E9DZ-6722-A Genuine Ford front oil pan gasket $ 9.79
E9DZ-6723-A Genuine Ford rear oil pan gasket $ 9.79

Which part or parts should I get to fix this leak?

Sounds more like a front main seal.

It might be the front main seal and or the front pan gasket. You can't really tell if the seal is leaking until you get the lower timing cover off.

Chances are, both are leaking. After all this is a SHO.

If you're going to replace the pan gasket, get both of them.

The oil pan has two small gaskets about 8" long each. One goes at each end where the pan is cicular in shape. The rest of the pan is sealed by metal to metal contact with a thin bead of silicone rubber between them.

Definately replace both. It take a while to get to it, might as well do them both. I did mine a few months ago. Not too bad.

- Remove Y pipe.
- Remove starter
- Drop the pan
- Clean the gasket surfaces
- install gaskets and RTV
- Reinstall the rest of the parts.

It's not difficult work, just make sure you have enough time and tools to complete it.
