When I got my SHO, one of the things that came with it was a protection plan. I get free oil changes for the life of the car. The Ford Maintenance schedule recomends changing the oil every 5K miles, along with checking other tihngs that need to be changed and/or replaced as the car gets older. I want to stick to that as religiously as possible, but 5K miles between oil changes makes me nervous. What I would like to do is go 2.5K miles between oil changes, that way I can still continue following the plan. Is there any harm in getting oil changes that frequently?

Well I have the perfect answer for you. I work at the Ford dealer and I take the oil right out of the machines at work. I use the Motorcraft filter also. So its the exact same as when you go to dealer and here's my experiences with that setup. I have gone 5k and the oil looks like I just put it in yesterday. I try to do it every 3k but I don't worry about it that much. The car was EXTREMELY clean when taken apart for cam welding. I have pictures if you want to see and E1 and the forum can also testify.
