OHH ISHT!! I think my cams are clicking

All this cam talk has gotten me very worried, so I went to the v8sho site and listened to the examples of possibe cam failure. I them listened to the good engine sound. Unfortunately, my engine didn't seem to resemble the good sounding engine.

It was difficult for me to run out and start my car, listen, and them come back in and compare because for as long as I can remember, my engine has sounded the same.(slight clicking noise at idle)
I decided to take my camcorder to the garage and start the car and record the engine. I panned over the car staying mainly over the engine itself. I then came back inside and listened to the v8sho.com example and my personal video, much to my dissappointment, they sound almost exactly the same This was unfortunately confirmed by my family members.

**Is there anyone out there who has had this problem and/or heard it first hand that I could get in contact with via telephone to have them listen to my audio or engine itself.

I am very concerned. I have a warranty but I can't deal with not having a car for who only knows how long and continuing to pay payments. I will have major SHO withdrawl. The one nice thing is that Mike Courtney's SHO shop is close by. Maybe he can check it.

I have no idea whether this is cam failure or just my car. I need help

Wuzzzer or lastsho, contact me asap to maybe let me hear your engines or to have you listen to mine to find out if I am F'd or not.

Hey mike,
just go buy a warranty that covers the cams. at least that way you will get trade in value for your car if the fix requires a new engine.

Take it in, and have them diagnose the problem..... Not having car for a little bit is better then loosing the motor and being without car longer to replace engine. If they diagnose it, the cams are cheaper to replace than whole motor. The call is yours.

If it was me I take it in if I had warranty.

Not to change the subject on you, but I notice you have upgraded your stereo system.

The Dil-holes at Best Buy said I would have to dump the whole JBL system if I want to upgrade to anything else.

All I want to do is add more cleaner, deeper bass. If the sub you have will fit and work with the exsisting system, please post model #'s and where you got it from. I don't mind getting another amp either, but the factory speakers can stay if they can.

Are you sure its not just the injectors or the chain tensioner? From what people have said before, you'll be able to hear the cam noise from the outside with the hood closed. I know after reading the v8sho.com things i was always suspicious of my enigine, but the injectors click and are loud. Well...good luck!

lol, I am not sure. I can not hear the engine click with the hood closed. It may be the injectors or tension wire, but I am not sure. Sound so damn similar to the example of cam failure on v8sho.com. and is totally not noticable at all in the clip of the good engine. who knows, but I hope it is nothing.

To my best knowledge, I believe that the sound is most audible after that car warms up to normal operating temperature.
There's a lot of noises under the hood when the car is running and the hood is open.

Mike, the best way that I can describe the noise that I hear from the passenger side of the engine is more of a 'rolling' sound, rather than a 'clicking' sound. By 'rolling,' I mean that it's a sound that never completely fades away. Similar to how a siren that rotates on a 360 degree axis gets quieter as it faces away from you, but is louder when it's facing you.

Next time we get together I'd be happy to compare engine noises.
