Stick with oem. I had msd in my car and they lasted about 5 years. Swapped back to oem and it actually runs better now than it did with the msd coils

I had Accel, read my signature. Accel is owned by the same conglomerate as MSD. There aren't any off brands that has been proven to be more effective ask our collective tuner AJP he told me to swap back. I had a weird wot takeoff that went from 2nd to 3rd, and popped and lost power. Misfire, bought new oem. Ask @802SHO is running in his beast...

My mustang makes 918rwhp on e with the small pulley. Still running stock coils. Ford actually make a really good oem cop coil.

Run oem. The msd coils look better but they don’t perform as good as stock.

Gearhead actually proved that the MSD coils perform better in higher RPMs with an added 5-6 whp if I recall correctly. Which is why I think I bought them at the time looking for every last pony out there.

Not arguing that the OEM coils are already great, but you probably felt the OEMs performed better because they were brand new replacing a five year old set of coils regardless of brand.

They weren’t brand new though. They are the oem that had 55k miles on them. Yea Matt did prove they did help at higher rpms but that wasn’t a run of the mill basic sho like most have.

That’s impressive. Five years on the shelf with 55k miles on them yet still going. I will buy brand new OEM coils and see what changes.

I keep all my stock parts. Between my sho and mustang I could put on a pretty nice OEM yard sale. I just stick them in boxes, label them and put them in the garage or attic.

I do the same thing. I had the MSD coils as well, but I kept the stock coils in the MSD box in the trunk.

I run the MSD coils in my 2013 SHO. As far as I know... the red or black is just a colour choice. Same coil.

I don't do much else with the car except Time Attack on a road race course. Occasionally I take out the car to make some noise on a Saturday night.

Recently, after just two laps, one of the MSD coils failed early on race day. By the time entry fees, trailer rental and prep costs are added up, it cost me $500 to limp back home. So, needless to say, I sent the coil to MSD (Holly) for analysis, in case all six coils need replacing. I has been months, and I have not heard from or been able to reach the folks at MSD. I'll go back to the OEM coil before the next race, rather than risk another disastrous day at the track.

That new conglomerate IMHO has gone to crapola. Once the capital venture vultures get their penny pinching - innovation killing hands into the business things go to shart.
