WHat is it with the sho??
I have come to the conclusion it is a highly overrated/underrated car! Overrated by us enthusiasts, and underrated by everyone else. Either that, or the 3 shos I have owned were factory rejects.
I ran my 90 last week in the 1/8. 12 runs. Best time was 10.4.
Ran my 97 tonight. Stock except KandN panel filter. Ran 3 times.
Best time: 10.34!
I only gained .1 on the 60 ft from my 90! (2.4 sec)
Trap speed was 68.7 mph.
Bad part is my time went up .1 sec. on each run. (By the 3rd run I ran a 10.5) Worst part is that the same Grand Prix GT that beat me by .1 in my 90 (ran a 10.3) last week, beat me by another .1 tonight in my v8. (He ran a 10.24 tonight)
How in the world are stock shos (89-99) running in the 9's?????????????? rant

SHOs are all top-end power. They are no good off the line. These cars are good 60-140mph cars. They blow monkey nuts from 0-60.

Go back when it's colder out and you'll find it's a completely different car.

Shorter tires might help too.

My best 1/8 time is 9.64 @ 72.10. Best 1/8 trap speed was 73.97 mph. Temps that day were in the mid 40's.

9.9's are achievable in 50-60 degree temps. It's all about the temperature.

OK but whats the deal with the GP GT faster ET?
If it was a GTP, I wouldn't think a thing of it...

These are 1/8 mile times. Out of the hole a GP GT is a good performer, remeber that 3.8 used to be a GM TRUCK motor and has plenty of torque down low. that .1 is handily gained back and then some by a SHO of any gen in the second 1/8th.

FWIW there was a GTP at the convention and I saw her run a 15.08 or sommething like that. By comparison our stock 99 (still even has the sax) was running 15.8's and 9's. I talked with the owner of the GTP (she also had a Gen II at the convention I believe). Dunno if she changed the pulley on the blower or not. 15 flat is doable in a stock GTP, but I would think that with the temperature that day that 15.3 or so would have been a blessing on a stock car.

I thought that most people worried about 1/4 not 1/8 but mine ran a 15.91 with all of my junk in the trunk and a half tank.

On a 45 degree day with 30mph tail wind I was posting consistent 15.5's. At the convention with the temp in the 90's and heavy air best I could get was 15.9. Ian has a point. V8's love cold air. finger

I have never heard anything said like that. Instead of saying that something sucks, from now on I am going to say it "blows monkey nuts!" thanks, I needed that laugh. Now back to the post at hand...josh finger

lol blows monkey nuts, that is good...!
I don't know if that's good or bad. I mean, one can say "this blows monkey nuts!" and be referring to a lack of performance. However, I think Roman meant it the other way. lol

Maybe you could say "It blows monkey nuts from 0-60" :D
lol
Take it how you want, either way it sucks.

Ryan, do you check your email anymore?

Was the GT stock or modded. It's not unheard of for stock GT's to run 15.5-16.0 in the 1/4 which this one was with that one would've been. Actually it would've run closer to 15.2. There are tons of mods out there and it's very easy to get those to run 14.5-15.0 now. Intake/Exhaust/DHP PCM/Rockers/Headers will put you there. Include a cam and you're into low 14's in them. Granted those same mods in a GTP and it will 13.0 even pretty much In the 1/4.

I don't check the starpower account as much, the best way to reach me is at my company account. I did get the message you sent to my comapany account last week, but didn't get a chance to respond. I'm an ass! :D You know me, I've got this basement I'm finishing, a one year old I'm chasing, and that whole work thing. headbang I'll drop you a line.

BTW, I have no idea what I was trying to say in that earlier post, so I zapped it! squint

Yeah I have no idea either. Maybe you were drunk or something.
I totally understand your situation. How is the basement coming by the way?
Have you ridden anymore in the neighbor's STI? Have you lined them up yet? You should. Just make sure I am there! thumb wink
