Anyone know of some things I can check on. I did some searching on the board but didnt find enough info to get me going. I can hit the button and its working. The light goes on and off and 3rd locks up the converter with the button off. With the button on it will almost free wheel when you let off the gas but my rpms run about 4K on the highway about 75mph or so. I think the other day it was in overdrive till I hit the button to see and it never went back in. I am thinking its possibly something electrical or something non critical because the tranny feels real crisp otherwise and shifts great through all the other gears. I dont know much about automatics so if someone could be specific and spell out some directions or point me to a page with a good write up I would appreciate it. This is a 93ATX by the way.

im not sure if its the same with u but i have a 93 sho atx and my car started out with that problem not being able to shit into overdrive. then lata it started looseing gears. but that was awhile lata. then i took out my computer and when i checked that, i heard rattling inside it and i decided to replace it. i replaced it and the problem went away. im guessin the part of the computer that controled the transmission messed up.

Well as an owner of a 93 atx, the fading in and out of the OD is usually a first sign of the tranny saying bye bye. Take out the tranny dipstick and see if the fluid smells burnt, if so then you likely are looking at a rebuild soon. Otherwise, it might indeed be the problem listed in shotimes. Good luck either way.

The tranny fluid looks good and smells good and it may have just been my imagination that it was in overdrive the day I was talkinga bout. I may have just felt the converter lock up when I took off overdrive. I will check out the C-Clamp deal and if that doesnt fix it I can try putting the computer from my other SHO into it. Both are 93 ATX cars so it should be the same computer.

I had the same problem last year. If you have had your center console out recently, make sure the O/D plug has a good connection. I checked mine, reconnected and its feexed! Best of luck!
