Okay,
After seeing how bad my 92 was getting neglected, I did the 60k on it and replaced the following

Front main Seal
Valve Cover gaskets
Spark Well Seals
Wires (Ac Delco)
Plugs (Autolite Plats)

Put everything back together and now the starter just spins. I was wondering when I was cleaning the gunk away from the CPS if it went out, because I have NO fire to the plugs. I pulled one of the plugs out and put a screwdriver to it while the wife turned the car over. Nothing. I double checked the spark plug wiring and it is correct. All grounds are connected. I guess my first suspicion is that the CPS went bad when I was cleaning the front main seal area with Carb cleaner and now won't tell the wires to fire. Any ideas?

Also, I wanted to add that the tach only goes to 3 or 4 hundered RPMs while cranking.....it moves, but not much.

No CE light while cranking...

I went ahead and replaced the CPS, gapped it properly and still nothing. I then tried to double check my grounds to the DIS module on the rear of the intake, and also to make sure that there was dielectric grease on the backside of the dis to make sure it has good contact with the intake...still nothing.

I followed the plug wiring diagram off this site to a T and I am getting NO spark whatsoever. If the plugs WERE wrong I would get fire, it would just buck and sound like crap and not start but I would still have fire, no?

I am at wits end, time to pull the intake and check everything out?

I can hear the fuel pump priming and sounds fine. I think there is fuel getting to the rails okay, no reason to think that it isn't since it was before I started working on everything.

Okay,
I had my wife turn the car over while I pulled a plug/wire setup. the thing popped my finger pretty good, so I think that I have a grip on spark, just not getting the car to fire off. I was pretty generous (downright overzealous) on the carb cleaner down the intake runners when attempting to decarbonize the black soot on the runners in the intake and also the heads. When I pulled the plugs, they were SOAKED full of fuel, so obviously fuel isn't the problem.

So my theory is this......I have sooo much Berrymans down the intake runners that the car can't fire off. When I put the plug back in, I could hear the car attempt to fire but wasn't successful. I pulled the intake, plugs, and wires and going to let the car "air out" overnight then reinstall everything tomorrow morning. I had something like this happen on my 93 after I swapped plugs and wires on her too.....we shall see....

Have you tried cranking it with the gas pedal to the floor so the injectors don't fire - as a solution to clear up your flooding condition?

Doug,
No I didn't do that, but thanks for the tip! I am presently letting it all air out overnight and will try to put everything back together in the morning! I'll let you guys know how it turns out! :bonk:

Well I got her running, but there is QUITE a bit of noise coming from the timing belt area. could I have the tensioner on too tight? Sounds like a S/C whine now.

Doug...thanks for the flooring tip! She sputtered out the rest of that carb cleaner and voila!

After doing a search here, I indeed had the tensioner too tight! Loosened her up and now the car is running fine! What would we do without shoforum and SHOPP!
