Thanksgiving Day went out to make a quick run to the store. Back out of the drive and head out, will not go into second,?? once the car speed slows down to 15MPH will go back into 1st and as long as the gear is pulling will stay there. When it goes for second its like neutral. no codes for shift points scanner is showing speed matching the speedo. If second was gone wouldn't the tranny shift to 3rd once the speed was over 35-40mph? Also some help on this ATX is the first/ reverse purely hyd. and the rest of the shifts from the ECM/PCM to sol.? I could not find any fusses bad and the car starts and runs with no check engine / SES light. information from the scanner DCL all looks good with only some EGR flow codes, on the first scan I also had a Spout signal grounded code. My Chiltons book shows about 4 or 5 wires going to the trans but not to what sol?

Yep, That is the same thing My 93 ATX did. Took it for a rebuild and they had to replace the front planatary and I had a cracked overdrive drum. Slippery looks like time for a rebuild or a new tranny. how many miles?
My rebuild was a lil over $1200 since I paid cash, a new Tranny will cost A little over 2 grand but you can get it built stronger than the factory unit.
My rebuild was just a rebuild alone, I should have had them put the transgo kit in it but in 11 months I might do it myself.

You will want a transgo kit put in it because these trannies have poor flow to the front planatary gears and the kit resolves this problem.

Another thing, if you take it for a rebuild be sure you have a alternate means of transportation. Mine took a week longer than the told me since they are rare and parts are hard to find.

Another part to the puzzle is the speed sensor mounted on the tranny.
This tells the computor how fast the car is rolling.
It is very difficult to reach but if you disconnect it, and still have the same problem, you might only need to replace it, or the connection is faulty.
If you do need a rebuild, do have your mechanic do a shift kit, change the speed sensor, and make sure the sensor is shielded from exaust. Heat is a big problem here.
I have a tranny in a junked 93 if you need one.

I bought the car about two years ago because the rebuilt trans in it had lost OD. The rebuild was only a year old at the time.Had to put a new battery in it and two new O2 sensors, problem went away!! car had about 140K then. A year or so goes by third is gone, get a tranny from yard working good bout 80K on it. Now this year it's gone car has about 170K on it. So in about two years we've spent 3K on trans. and labor. 2200$ for a solid unit is going to be hard to convince the wife even though it's her car!! Maybe after the New Year right now we are sharing my car and it's a 1987 turbo regal and just got done with about 6K worth of work and two years on it.

Mine was done by a long time friend and master rebuilder.
If it is done right, taking no shortcuts, you should have years of trouble free driving.
I can recommend someone in Westchester County New York.
Good luck
Joe
