no alternator, no power?

im waiting on a belt i ordered for the alternator so its not operating right now. do i need the extra juice that it puts out for the sho to operate properly? shoudnt it run fine for a short time of the battery power? just another question to try to pinpoint this terrible lack of power. im serious a ford tempo could win in a race right now

no, after a short while it will just quit because there isn't enough power to fire the plugs even at idle. ask my wife how she knows this.....

With a full battery, the car will run for about 40-50 miles of highway driving, or about 40 minutes of city driving. You won't damage anything running it without an alt, but I might keep a spare good battery in the trunk!

DO NOT try to charge a dead battery with the alternator. You will destroy the battery AND the alternator. Alts were not meant to charge batteries! They put out high current which will overload a battery's plates. So when you do get a belt, put the battery on a charger and let it charge first before you put it back in the car.

ok, onto the next possible problem why it runs like shit. whoever guesses what the problem is gets $20 in their paypal account!
