No 1st or reverse

today I was driving and some of my gears wont work. it seems that only 2nd 3rd and 4th and overdrive work. No First and Reverse. I think it is just a linkege but how do I fix it? How do I even locate it? some one let me know, Thanks

Ok here was the problem, my shift cable has parts to it and it just cam undone where it conects. This helped a number of problems, not more raddle noise when I let off the clutch in N, no more grind into second, way cool.
