Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum! My name is Matthew, 21 years old, and live in the fairly small town of Sonora California, in the Sierra Nevadas. I have owned my beautiful 1995 MTX SHO for about 6 or 7 months now. I tried to join the forum when I first got her to get help with a few things but had trouble activating my account. I gave up for awhile and pulled through. I tried again recently and got my account activated, and now can be apart of the SHO community! :)

So about my SHO. It's a 1995 blue MTX that I picked up in San Jose California for $1,680. I first saw this awesome SHO on Craigslist about 6 months prior to me getting it, for $3000. I wanted it BAD. It was the nicest SHO I've ever seen on CL. In the pictures I could see a 3 gauge pillar pod, beautiful dark brown leather seats & center consol, and the SHO logo stitched into the headrests. I could also see very nice MSR wheels, BF goodrich G force sport tires, red brake calipers, and slotted rotors. So I knew this was a very nice and very well kept SHO. It did say 210k mileage on it, but i wanted it anyway because of how nice it was. But one thing i did notice in a picture of the cluster was that the speedometer was not in MPH, but in Kilometers/hr. And the Odometer said 210xxx which was actually in kilometers! So thats actually like 135k mileage! I wasn't going to tell him of course lol
Unfortunately this SHO disappeared off CL soon after, and I didn't have the money anyway.

So About 6 months later, this same SHO was back on CL for 1800. I HAD to have it! It still said over 210k mileage in the ad so I figured that may by me some time. I called the guy up, and told him I could come pick it up in a week. I didnt quite have the money still, But I was stalling him lol. So I hurried up, and put my 1970 Baja bug on CL for pretty cheap and quickly got it sold in time.
I ran down to San Jose. And saw this beautiful, dusty, SHO parked in the driveway. It was like it had been sitting since 1995 untouched. The interior was far nicer in person than in the pictures. It was darker color in person. All of the carpet was new, even in the trunk, the pillar gauge pod matched so perfectly as if it were there from the factory, the sunroof, seat controls, and windows (except drivers side rear) all worked perfectly. Every interior light was LED, and the tail lights are LED and look awesome! Under the hood, EVERYTHING looked like a brand new car. Even the l spare tire and jack looked untouched, nd even tje little ******* were still on the tire. I was shocked of how nice this car was. This car was absolutely coming home with me! So I made an offer, and now this beautiful SHO is in my driveway next to my dream truck (91 GMC Syclone) that I also got extremely lucky on, and has an even more extreme story on obtaining lol.
Unfortunately I have no choice but to daily drive this beautiful SHO, and it is not garaged. Me being 21 years old, working part time, and about to attend college, I am doing everything I possibly can to keep it perfect and maintained Very well. I will be a certified welder in less than 6 months and will be making good money. When that time comes I'll get a little 5 speed civic to put miles on instead of my rare little taurus and even more rare syclone pickup. I will also have the sho garaged and will be my weekend fun car.

Anyways! That's my story of how I got here, and I hope you guys enjoy reading! I got a little carried away lol. I'll be on here making postings on certain issues of my car, so I will see your guys and girls around. :)

Welcome to the forum, Matt! Hope the SHO doesn't give you too much trouble, at least it should be a bit easier to work on as a "rust-free" car :) Good luck with your studies in the meantime, and post the story on the Syclone as well!

Thanks alot! My SHO is a very nice one and hasn't given me much trouble at all. I love it.
Since you or anyone else in the forum is interested in my Syclone story, I will copy the story from SyTy.net and post it right here. :)
I sent this story to a friend on SyTy.net in a message. So there are still a fair amount of details that were left out to keep it as short as I could. But this is basically what happened:

Don W.

I was just looking around on SF bay area Craigslist and just randomly decided to search syclone just to see if there happen to be any on there since ive always wanted one. And i see one pop up like once a year. And what do you know, there was. It said Syclone for trade. The post had been up for 6 days. It said at the bottom he was interested in trading for a dirt bike or 4x4. I just so happen to have both of those things! So i offered him my 01 ram 1500 4x4 truck that had a valve not properly seated, so was slightly missfiring (said it ran perfectly fine and had new head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets, timing chain and sprockets, and harmonic balancer [which it didnt yet]) and an rm250 dirt bike. So i messaged him and offered them to him. He said he had someone already going to trade something but he will let me know. I didn't get too excited since I figured I'm likely not going to get this thing. And plus, How could I, a 21 year old, part time worker and college student, end up with this extremely rare and fast GMC Syclone pickup, that's worth a ton of money anyway ? That was my mindset, but hey, it was worth a shot.

2 weeks later i get a mssg from him asking if im still interested since the other guy flaked out. HELLLLL YEAH I AM!!. But my truck wasnt done yet and still needed the head gaskets done, and another head since it had a bad valve seat. (But i didnt tell him that of course). So i told him i can come pick it up in a week (Saturday ) since i figured i could get my truck done by then. The only thing was, i dont get paid until Thursday! Sooo i put one of my oxy/acetylene sets on CL for $300. It sold on Wednesday. I had only 3 days from there. Sooo i called around for a cylinder head for my truck, ran down to modesto, pulled one off and engine, paid 100 bucks for it, and got all the new gaskets and oil for my dodge the next day (thursday) since i had to order them. I Had this huge list of things to do on my truck that had to be done TOMORROW. So I better buy some energy drinks and GET MY ASS TO WORK. I tore my engine down to the cylinders that same day, and spent 8 am to 2 In the morning, in the Rain, on Friday WRENCHING on the top end of my dodge. This is a big, tall, 4x4 truck with a winch bumper on it, so I had to Literally CLIMB into the engine bay like hundreds of times, to work on it. Saturday morning came, and my engine was almost done. I started at 8 am until about 2 o clock on Saturday getting the final things on the list for my dodge done. I was in a Huge rush, and was running SOOO LATE. I had to be in Santa Rosa in a few hours, and the truck hadn't even been started yet!! So I crossed my fingers, prayed, turned the key, and it fired right up, and ran smoother than ever before..
I Drove it around the block once, the brakes needed to be bled a little since its drifts a little to one side. But who needs brakes on a 3 ton truck anyway. I said its good enough, TO SANTA ROSA!

I have never felt so Roadkill in my life lmao

2 days later: My back was sore, my neck hurt, my eyes were bloodshot, and i hadnt had much sleep, my hands were all nicked up and stained with grease, and I ended up staying in a motel on the trip. I have Never worked on a vehicle SO Hard and continous in my life. But now when I look at the top of my driveway, my dream truck is sitting there, next to my dream car. Just needs a little work. So all the backbreaking work seems to have paid off again. I hope the luck continues haha. This truck better be worth it.

Moral of the story, energy drinks really help when in these situations. Lol Jk

But like I said above, How could I, a 21 year old, part time worker and college student, end up with such a thing? I guess if you really want something that bad, and are determined enough to get it, you can get anything you want in life. Just gotta work for it
