newbie here...bought a 91, has problems, need advice

Hey guys, I'm not new to SHO's but new to POSTING in this forum...I look on it all the time. Anyhow, I just bought a 91 with 128k on it. Here are the problems I've encountered.

1. The car has a fairly hefty oil leak. I haven't had time to get under it to take a look. But where is a common place for these to leak oil?

2. The car chugs and sputters from a stop and while on the highway. It has a real loss of power. Say I drop it into 3rd at 65 or so, it hardly even picks up speed. I unplugged the MAF to see if that was it...not it though. I'm thinking plug wires? It has some cheapo brand and I know motorcraft only! What do you guys think?

3. To get the car to steer straight, you have to hold the wheel at about 2:00. It doesn't steer straight. I know the car needs a new halfshaft, could this be causing wacko steering though?

4. When you turn the wheel, you hear a loud clunk and pop from the suspension. CV joints?

I think that's it, I love the car, it does have its' faults. But it is rust free, SHO plus hood, rod shifter, and I can tell the car has power! It just needs a little help! Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

A guy just brought his 92 in last week, did plugs & wires (replacing the old Magnecore's), Fuel pressure regulator was bad, and replaced the TPS while we were at it. Power restored. Check the Y-Pipe for blockage as well - mine was clogged on the 91. My 91 is also leaking from the oil level sender - needs a new gasket. No biggie, do at next oil change (I'm still looking for one of those 'Round Tuit' things myself). Gasket & sender are cheap, too.

My oil "leak" is baaaaaaaad. I'm talking this car was 3 qts. low today. He drove it from Texas to Missouri...and it got that low! shoot Oil pan possibly?

Also, where can I get that 60k video? And the tools to do the 60k? I might just make that my spring break project. The 94 has been sold so it's time to start on this bad boy. I love the car, it's awesome looking, just needs some help right now making power etc.!

Could be the oil pressure sender up on the block under the number three cylinder (driver side, rear). On the MTX, it is easier to see and access from below, but you will have to raise the car on jackstands so that you can get under it. When this sender's seal fails, it pumps oil out at a heavy rate.

The oil level sensor is on the back side of the oil pan, above and to the passenger side of the drain plug. This sensor can leak like a seive too, but the leakage will decrease when the level drops below the sensor.

The valve cover seals, front main seal, rear main seal or camshaft seals don't usually fail with the amount of leakage you are referring to, but you have to see the source of the leak to be sure you are replacing the right seal. For your eyes only.

My new SHO looks JUST like yours! That is a nice SHO! I replaced the oil pressure sender on the 94 when I installed gauges in it. I know where that is, and I know where the oil level sensor is too, thanks for the information! I can't wait to figure it out though, I really really like this car!

Hey does anyone know someone that would help me do a 60k maintenance? I would be more than willing to travel for a couple of hours to have help! I'm thinking sometime around spring break time? Anybody? :) :) :) I'm in the Kansas City, MO area.

Check to see if sdpatt is still planning a 60k trip to St. Louis. I thought I saw a post relating to this.
