Hi all. I'm new to this forum. Looking at a 15 SHO, CPO car with 49xxx on odo. Anything in particular to look for? I'm looking to use this to split mileage with our F150 EB SCrew, and keep from piling miles up on my 12 CTS-V. Thanks in advance for any info.

Welcome, and good luck in your search! Aside from the usual - noises/smells/acceleration/deceleration/handling issues? Look at the Carfax, make sure any/all recalls (including Fuel Pump Control Module) are complete, and familiarize yourself with relevant TSBs before going into the deal. Mostly take off the appearance cover, note for signs of dirt accumulation near hose clamps (possibly cracked/loose/leaking oil or boost).

CPO doesn't mean it will be perfect, just that it has passed THEIR points of inspection. CPO isn't really B2B either, so know what is included what isn't. Even if it all "looks" good, you will want to do normal maintenance checks like air filter, cabin air filter, oil & filter change etc at a minimum. You will still want to get it up on a lift, take the belly covers off, etc. right after you buy it, to really make sure there are no issues with it. Check the struts and shocks for dampness, shouldn't be an issue with this mileage, but you never know. Verify underbody and exhaust system integrity.

If you really want to be proactive, you will want to have all fluids exchanged so you have a known starting point. Definitely have the PTU/RDU fluids serviced, whether at the dealership or an independent repair shop/trans service shop. Change the spark plugs, Motorcraft SP534 will work just fine. May want to keep spark plug boots on hand in case the ones on there are reluctant to come out.

Certified doesn't mean much besides the added warranty. I've bought a couple Fords/Lincolns that weren't certified until I wanted them to be as part of the negotiations including my 2013. Yes it should mean the car doesn't have any major issues when you drive off the lot it doesn't mean much as far as if you're buying a more reliable car.
As far as what to look for I agree with SHOdded. Maintenance is key on any car. If the car was dealer serviced there is often records on carfax. You should be able to get the dealer to provide it to you for free as may dealer listed online adds include it.

Dealer maint. Is only kept on record at that dealership. If it was completed under warranty then any dealer can see it.

Not many fords are sold with a maintenance package to my recollection. That's more a lincoln thing.

I have seen carfax reports with normal maintenance reported. Typically from a dealer but sometimes from larger chains as well. Many don't so it not being on the carfax is not a indicative of lack of maintenance, but can help as it's usually hard to get records unless buying private.

I have no expirience with car faxes. Just explaining the facts about ford dealership maint records from my expirience.

I will further explain that only warrant able maintenance such as a maintenance package would show under warranty history with is available to all FMC dealerships.

On a side norlte You mean to say that vehicle owners don't read their owners manual and document their services?

If you're looking at a 2015 then the car isn't that old and most likely all the work to date has been done at a dealership including oil changes. If you're buying from a good Ford Dealership ask to see Oasis reports on any work that's been performed. I purchased a 2013 about 6 months ago from a Ford dealer (I had Oasis access through work) but my salesman went yard for me. Mine was purchased by the dealer from a auction for resale after it was turned back in from a lease. They gave me a copy of all the maintenance records including oil changes shown in Oasis, the car grading from the auction when it was inspected by Ford, and a Carfax report. If it's a good dealer and they know you're interested they have the ability to provide tons of information...just ask politely. Other than that it's the usual test drive and give it a good look over.

The dealership website says it is a one owner accident free car. We shall see.
