Hi all,

Just got a 94 MTX and have a couple of questions about my CD-player. From what I understand I have the JBL Premium stereo with the amp, sub, JBL speakers, etc...

The headunit appears to be double-din, with a Premium Ford AM/FM/Casette player in the top bay and a Ford CD-Player in the second bay. The CD-player has serious problems playing CD's. Even the slightest bump causes it to skip and the drive sometimes clicks furiously after a CD is inserted.

What are my options?

that is a problem with the internal cd mechinism in the cd deck. the skipping is due to a faulty optical pickup assembly, and the clicking is bad micro swithces that tell the load/eject motor to operate. Thes mechs. are made by sony and is either part number ----0016 or ----2235. I am the cd specialist where i work, you can vist our site at www.mnrelectronics.com we can definatly repair this, infact we reman the entire cd mechnism (all new parts) unfortunatly it is very pricy at $200 (i dont make the prices) but comes with a full one year warranty. perusing local junkyard may find you something. But there is allways aftermarket, which offers alot more features then the factory oem equipment.
ps- it is not a double din, it is a single radio, and then the remote cd satalite.
