My car is going in for a pretty good make-over come the spring, including repainting some damaged parts, fiberglassing work and some other goodies.

But, I was wondering what you guys thought of taking off the door molding that runs down the lower part of the Gen 3 door and making that area smooth? Now - I have no idea if this part is held on with nuts or glue, or if it can even come off.

But what would you think of a smooth-sided gen 3?

I personally think that it would look good. I see the newer vette's that have the door moldings and the ones that don't look much nicer. It's all around a much cleaner look... thumb I say go for it. it can't look worse. And I think they are glued on too...

I think it is a good idea. You may want to take a close look though. I looked today (my mother dives a 97 Vulcan) and it appears as though the door panel indents underthe moldings. If they are glued on, it still may look cool with the moldings removed and the indents exposed.

Brian, I am pretty sure that the door is indented for the moldings. I could be wrong....

Of course, it wouldn't look bad without them anyway :) Bondo can fix lots of things :D
