I have a dilemma! I've been looking for a SHO for a couple months now and really want a pp SHO. I can't find any low mile pp's that aren't black or aren't an outrageous price. There is a 2019 non-pp with 4k miles locally that is down to 29.9k. I'm not planning on doing any autocross and really only jump on it here and there. I would like to do some 1/4 runs but probably will only end up doing that once or twice. Do I wait for a pp or do I jump on the good deal on the non-pp? Do I really need a pp?

Once tuned, the Non-PP's have consistently proven to be faster in the 1/4.

If that's your goal, I'd hop on the Non-PP and save some coin as well.

You can easily retro-fit the auxiliary coolers that are found on the PP if that should be of any concern.

And you can enabled the "heavier steering feel" with Forscan. I think you might be able to enable the "full off" Advancetrac, but I'm not sure about that if you don't have the button on the console for TC.

The suspension changes, however, some can't stand in the PP anyway ;)

Thanks for the replies guys, just talked to the dealer with the non-pp 19 and he said it has a clear title but it was damaged in the ford factory, repaired at the factory and then offered to dealers at a discount. I'll have to run a carfax and autochek to see if that shows up at all. Sounds like he would give me a good deal but that past damage is bothersome....

As far as the suspension goes I would be putting h&r springs on most likely so mainly want the pp for the brakes, tc off button and coolers

I like the pp cars better myself. Had an 2011 non pp and now have a 2013 PP

The PP is a better car. It comes with better pistons, better brake pads, trans cooler, ptu cooler, a more friendly 3.16 drive ratio for the street. It also allows you to take all the traction nannies off with the press of a button. Keep looking for a PP and even be willing to travel.

I second SM105K on the wait for a PP. I test drove a few non-pp cars that were local and good deals, then a pp one that was a horrible deal but I wanted to test drive. Huge difference if you ask me in the overall feel. The "sportier" steering alone is worth it. I ended up driving 4 hours away to get the pp I wanted. Only thing I would change is get rid of the damn moonroof.

Sure you can add most pp things later, but it would be cheaper and easier to just wait and get a pp to start. The better pistons make for some serious piece of mind too. Changing PTU fluid is a lot easier on pp cars as well.

I thought it was actually harder to change on the pp cars? I might end up waiting for a pp. I have my ST and don't need a SHO right away, just hate passing up good deals (depending on the whole previously damaged situation)

Perhaps I missed something, but I was under the impression that only the pp cars had a ptu drain plug.

Oh I was thinking all 2013+ had the drain plug but its all 2013+ pp cars. Whoops! Also, there is a 2018 pp with 8k miles that is 7 hours away from me. They will supposedly only come down to 30,100 from 31k, and only give me 12k for my ST. Everything I can find shows that as a not so great deal. What do you guys think? I turned it down for now

I bought my 2015 with 350 miles on it from the dealer as a used car because it was on the lot for over 12 months. I paid 30k. MSRP was around 48k. Just keep searching you will find the one you want.

Now thats a good deal! In my search so far I've even found brand new 2016's, and they still want full price :-( Went in to see if the local ford dealer could help me find one last night and the salesman just said no and walked away. Also found a brand new 2018 listed at 34.5k, asked for their best quote and they wrote it up as 41k out the door (1.5k "paperwork" fee, 1.5k for mandatory simonize type sealant, dealer fee of 1k). Needless to say, my experience with ford dealers so far has been frustrating.

Yes long story short share the same pistons as the cop cars

I just had to go to fordparts.com and check this out. And indeed there are two listings for the Ecoboost V6:

1)
Usage: RH, 02/06/2012 - 06/06/2079, Taurus, 3.5L DOHC T/C V6 Gas, Less Version Packages
MSRP: $54.72

2)
Usage: RH, 02/06/2012 - 06/06/2079, Taurus, 3.5L DOHC T/C V6 Gas, Police Version, SHO Package 1
MSRP: $69.08

So now, I know what "SHO Package 1" means, but also - I'm really tempted to buy one of each and check out the differences.
