If someone has a spun cam engine looking to get rid of it,
hopefully close to California, since I've got a new whacky idea
to try with the short block. Convert it to a direct injection turbo
2-stroke engine! :woo-hoo:
This should at least double the HP from 230 to 460.

This would be going into my jet boat project. The DOHC heads
are too heavy and bulky and no smog issue with a boat,
and this would be awesome if I can pull it off.

To make it work, I need access to the cylinders from the inside V
of the block. The pics i've seen of the short block show a bridge
between the decks, what is under that bridge? I would need to drill in some ports to the cylinders from inside the V.

I guess its not "needed" I wouldn't imagine the engine would shake itself to death. I don't know of anyone that has tried though.

Well if your going 2 stroke, your going to want all the RPM you can get so id bet you want the balance shaft.

I had a 2.4 mopar with a balance shaft, some guys removed it and it was fine,
just a little more vibration in the car. In a boat, no big deal!
But yes I want to spin it up to 8k, should be no problem without valves,
so would want to keep it if possible.
It might be fine where it is if I can get the intake port to go around it,
or possible move it somewhere else. I need one to cut open.
Have one that is good I don't want to destroy that one cuz this attempt
will probably not work most likely. :)

I applaud you for attempting this, however I thinking you are eff’n nuts. Have you really thought this through? There are so many things to consider? Put down the crack pipe.

Might be foolish to try it on a V8 until I get it working on a smaller engine. I have a 3-cyl 4-stroke I could modify. But I already have a 3-cyl 2 stroke, can get v6's too, so no point in it other than testing the methods,
so me thinks why not go right to the v8 first. If I can get one v8 cylinder
to work, it should be ok for the other 7.
I could use a different aluminum v8, lexus or northstar, might be easier,
but I'm a "ford" guy.. :)

O goodie :dribble:
I sent a pm.

looks like the block weighs 175lbs, so too heavy for UPS.
It would need to be disassembled to ship in two parts.
A bit pricey to ship it from MN this way.

Someone closer to California would be better.

I am thinking I will try this first with a subaru 2.5L boxer engine.
These are very light engines, and being boxers, I have external access to both sides of the cylinders, and the cases split into two.
This would also be a unique 2 stroke. Lopping off the DOHC heads would give
a VERY light engine with 200-300hp when turbo'd (ok well maybe 400hp with turbo :)
