well i know there are a hundred of theese threads and this might be a dumb question but here it goes anyways. I did the valve cover gaskets a while back and have noticed a 1qt per 1000mile consumption or worse at times. I never lost more than a half quart per oil change before i did the vcg. I thought i got the back one on correctly, but i know nothing for sure. I never see smoke from the exhaust or the engine bay, never a drop on the ground. Rear and front sel were replaced a little over a year ago(25k ago) should i be lloking at the seals or just take the vcg back off and make sure it's on? The car still runs great so I'd hate to think it could be my rings. Oh, I have 185k miles on the engine and it has been well cared for and never beaten on, I am the third owner, relatives owned first.

i have the same symptoms. no clue but it does burn more oil than i think it should. i too would like a cure. piston rings are a possibility i assume. but i would think performance would be more greatly affected.
