i should be embarresed. i have the stage I on my car and i'm still running remington XT-120 h-rated tires. they sure do last a long time, but even in a straight line at full throttle, once 5,000 rpms hit, the tires will start spinning.

so, heres the deal. i don't want to blow a butt load of cash. there has to be a better way to get a decent tire than blowing $500-600 dollars for dunlops, pirellis, michelins, etc.

what do you guys think of kuhmo. i've heard great thing about them. also, being that nitto drag radials are all the rage, i'm wondering if there performance tires are sticky too.

i do a lot of highway driving, so i don't to wear them out every 10K either.

see ya,
Robby

according to tire rack and people i have heard who used them, kumhos are just as good as BFGs and such that cost 1 1/2- 2 times as much.

I just purchased a set of bridgestone rf730s and the performance is remarkable. They come highly recommended from SDPATT (he runs those himself) and the price isn't all that bad. $500 delivered from Tirerack.com. I also concur with the great grip they give.

I would go with the Kuhmo's. I am getting them in the spring. The performance is really good (haven't had them on my SHO, but 2 of my friends have them). Plus at under $400 bucks it's not too bad.

Every suspension mod you do, every hp mod you do, every brake mod you do, EVERYTHING you do to your car gets put in motion, and transferred to road through 1 thing and 1 thing only. The tires. They are THE most important part of the car. You could argue that the rest of the car is there to make the tires perform their job, and that the rest of the car is just along for the ride.

I'm a big fan of the Dunlop SP8000. Not the newest thing going, but good wear, great grip, good in the wet, real tough, and very predictable. You can get these for well under $500 to your door, depending on what sizes you get. There are a lot of other good z rated tires out there as well for under $500.

The nitto's rule the strip, but suck on a FWD taurus on the road. Trust me you don't want them.

Don't mod your car up with lots of goodies to make it perform and skimp on the tires. Back several yrs ago when my 92 was stock, first thing I did to start was put on some sticky tires. It's the most important thing...

You know if you reall want some NOT BAD tires for a good price you could always pick up a set of pep-Boys Futura Z's. My friend had them on his 335 hp Camaro and they weren't all that bad. Just not the best don't get me wrong.

I'm interested in the new Nitto's.
