It doesn't matter if I am driving down the road or if it is at a stop. The first time it happend I was at a stop light. I tried to to start it back up, no luck. It just rolled over and over, without firing. Then it started up, stalled again. finally it started back up like nothing happend. It was fine for about 2 weeks then it happend again while I was driving down the highway. When it turns over, it doesn't fire, I checked for spark, none. I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the ignition on. I talked to a guy at a shop tonight, and he told me to try a DIS module he had at the shop. I put it on and the car ran like sh#t. Took it off and put my old back on wouldn't start. By this time I was ready to burn it. I waited for a few mins, fired right up.
Has this happend to anyone or does any one have any info? I am stuck.

I don't know may people that have had the DIS failure. Most mechanics would have immediatly said the CPS which I agree is most likely your problem.

My car stalled and then kept driving. I came here and asked, they said it sounded like Crank position sensor. I order one.
The problem completely disappears for almost a week. Then it won't start at all.
EDIT: Then I install the sensor, and problem fixed. (Next problem, please! :D )
Check the codes! They will confirm if it really is the cps.
Also, when it stalls while driving, or while trying to start it, does the tachometer go to where it should be, or stay at Zero?

If Zero then it almost always is the cps or the CID (cylinder id or Camshaft sensor). The codes will confirm.

Good luck! :thumb:

PS- you might want to talk with "Bizzy", the forum owner about your user name. It's not exactly the kind of name that's acceptable here.

I for one am not offended by his name. He is not causing any trouble and I believe you guys should mind your own business. If you don't like his name don't view his posts. :squint:

The user name I have is just a nik-name. My last name is Doucette. It doesn't have any other meaning then just that. As for my car problems, I have noticed that the tach drops to zero when it stalls while i'm driving.

Possibly a Crankshaft postion sensor (PIP). Grab a multimeter and run the ignition system test as described by PheonixSHO. This will pinpint the problem.

Hey autobahnsho, you have to INSTALL the PIP sensor for it to solve the problem, not just order it!!! :D

I'm not crazy about the username either. IMO, it's borderline offensive. Granted, knowing the origin of the name takes some of the edge off it, but how many people browsing SHOForum are going to know that?

And I think Will was very diplomatic in the way he presented his opinion on the subject. He's been a member here for quite some time which IMO earns him the right to freely express his feelings on a matter such as that.

Post edited. :) I did install it.
Point was that the problem is sometimes intermittent with that sensor. It can flake out, work fine for a while, then flake out again.

Acc. to Scott (sdpatt, who I haven't seen in a while,) and my experience, the codes ALMOST always are right about this sensor.
Good luck!

It was given to him for a reason, if that word never existed before his nickname I doubt it would have been given to him. I know if my last name was that and my friends gave me that nickname they'd be reffering to something, but anyways it really don't bother me :)
