I have had an on again, off again problem with my SHO. It will drive fine, but in WOT, it would bog down and not want to go. When I let off the pedal to come to a stop it would die. It would crank and crank, finally fire, but act like it was hitting a rev limiter, but at only 2k rpms (gas pedal mashed to the floor). Shut it off for about 30 seconds, and it ran fine.

Changed the fuel pump about 3 weeks ago and it seemed to solve the problem, but about a week later, the same thing. I replaced the fuel filter, ran fine for about another week, but it did it to me again last nite. This time when it acted like it was hitting the rev limiter at 2k, the starter was cranking at the peak rpm level.

I have also replaced the TPS through out this whole process. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

No codes? Did you disconnect the battery to see returning to OEM fuel trim values helps?

Pulled codes, the only one retrieved was:

0411 - Secondary air injection system incorrect flow detected

I have no idea what that means. Any ideas? Thanks

Secondary Air INksrction is supplied for the first minute or two as your car is started to help the Catylitic Converters heat up rapidly by injecting air into the exhaust manifolds by offseting the increased fuel present as a result the richened fuel mixtuure requried to make the engine run when cold. If the excess fuel were not leaned out before the cats they would not have sufficient oxygen to burn the fuel in the cats.
The ECU instructs the CCR to turn the pump on for a few minutes until the engine can lean back out and the cats come up to temperature. So their function has little if any to do with the performance of the engine, As for causes for the fode; I found mine to be caused be a twisted hose that comes off of the subframe mounted tube that is attached to a very thin-walled rubber tubing that connects ot to the pump located under the batter box. The other side is connected to a valve mounted with another soft hose under the throttle body. The other possibility is to check to make sure the plug is connected and the **** works. You can hear it when you turn the engine off in a quite garage and and hear a noise that resembles the sound from the Star Wars Death Star as it is getting ready to fire on the Rebels base planet.

I think that the code I pulled is irrelevent to the problem. I have had the battery disconnected several times, and the problem always returns.

I thought that the problem only occurs when I stand on the throttle, but it did it to me under easy town driving. I thought that it would be related to a fuel problem, but it may be something completely different. It happens maybe once a week, and after about 30 seconds with the ignition off, it will fire up like nothing had happened.

I have a wonderful car that I am not willing to drive for fear of being stranded, please help!!!!

Replace the FPR.

Well, I bought one, without looking at the origional one first (cars getting new tires put on) and the guy behind the counter said that they are the same for SOHC as well as DOHC. I hope that he is right. I will post progress later. Thanks!
