Hey guys,

1994 MTX

I just had my clutch replaced. Before that it was ocasionaly hard to get into first and second gear, (you would try to put it into gear and it would go up but you would have to push it farther and harder). I would do the clutch petal adjustment and this would help it sometimes.

But now the clutch has been replaced,(yesterday) it has synthetic trans fluid in there. The problem seems worse now its hard to get into 1st and 2nd gear. I am thinking possably the syncs are worn but im not sure.

Thanks in advance

Who did it? Could be a mis-installed TOB.

Sure they replaced your old one?

First thing I would check would be the fluid level. Make sure it's got a full 3 qts in there.

How many miles are on the tranny? Sometimes lower miles MTX's with the friction material lined blocking rings don't take well the synth fluid right off the bat. It may take awhile for the fluid to work into the friction material. Usually it seems to work really well with tranny's that have some miles on them, after the rings are good and broke in.

Mark, Thanks for your reply.
The car has 100,000 Miles and there is now synthetic fluid in there. About the trans getting used to the fluid would that apply to me ? also If the level is ok then what would you think ?

Thanks

GRRRRRRR, I can not belive this ...... THE GUY NEVER CHANGED THE DAMN TRANY FLUID!!!!!!!! WTF! He even told me straight up "ya i tried to get all of the old fluid out as i could, then i put synthetic in" he did not even change the rear main seal that i gave him, went on to tell me that i did not need it. THE GUY has a SHO of his own Thats why i took it to this dealership because i thought i could trust him!!! who did he think he could take me for a fool?

Well any way i found this out when i checked the level of the fluid and guess what ? Dirty fluid!!! I put some new mercon dextron III in and guess what it shifts like butter.....

I was going to do the service my self but was too lazy .... Never again....................
