I own a 1989 Sho and my moonroof is giving me some trouble. I dont think its the motor as they dont fail too often although it might be the switch or a fuse. I have no manual so could somone tell me what fuse number crresponds to the moonroof. After i check the fuse i know it must be the switch. Thanx a lot.

Hello and welcome,
The oem moonroof switch on our cars is a pos. Do a search in this section for "moonfoof problem" without the quotes (yes it is misspelled). There is a link to a site that shows how to wire an inexpensive switch available from Napa. I added some changes I personally made to make it easier. My new switch is doing fine, and I don't expect anymore troubles with it. Don't buy another Ford switch.

Good luck,
Tom

On an 89, F6 supplies power to the window safety relay. This relay is energized whenever the ignition switch is in ACCY or RUN.

Power to the moonroof motor is supplied by F14 via the normally open contacts of the window safety relay. This same power feed also supplies the other power windows. If they have power, all of the above circuitry is okay.

From the relay, power is routed to the switch on the overhead console. The output of the switch goes to the moonroof relay and the moonroof motor.

Both mentioned relays are located under the dash upwards and to the right of the glovebox. They can be accessed by swinging the glovebox downward.
