Going to need some new suspension components soon, and just trying to figure out if I should spend the extra money and move up to megan coilovers or just get new facory suspension. It's a 2010 Taurus SHO with 66k miles.

How hard do the megans ride compared to factory? Will it lower the car a lot as well? I just want a decent ride and I don't mind it being a little lower, but I like the height for Minnesota winters..

What does this suspension consist of anyway? Is it all around struts? Front struts rear shocks? I can't remember. I knew at one point..

Let me know!
Thanks!

If you want flexibility, go for the Megans. If you want a true upgrade in handling, go for the Megans. If you like the feel of the stock, then ...

Here's a brief description of the coilovers (a front/rear kit):

"How-to" by bpd on the alignment needed (for H&R, but useful for Megan as well):

And yes, you will need an alignment after the change, regardless of factory or coilovers.

bpd has them on his SHO, and hope he will come along shortly to comment :)

I had the H&R's for a while and was one of the 1st group of owner's with them on.

I also was able to work with a pal of mine who is employed there, in coming up with an adjustable rear camber bolt solution to provide OEM alignment specs after lowering spring install.

I really enjoyed the H&R's. They provided a great look, and the improvement in ride quality was impressive versus the stock set up.

I never had any issues with rubbing, and/or bottoming out, scraping curbs, etc.

This year, I opted to upgrade my suspension even further by installing the Megan Racing Coil Over System.

This product has been a significant improvement overall.

The ability to adjust for BOTH Ride Height, as well as Damping, is top notch!

I also traced down BOTH Front & Rear Adjustable End Links to help further enhance cornering and performance.

These are really THE ONLY TWO OPTIONS AVAILABLE at this time.

Eibach used to produce a set of lowering springs previously, but have since discontinued their product offering due entirely to less than stellar sales.

I should also mention (even though I see you own a 2010) that the Megan's are NOT currently available for 2013+ model years.

If you should have any additional questions, LMK.

SHOdded is correct, in that you'll want to have an alignment performed after any install.

Happy Motoring! :burnout:

Thanks for the input everyone! I'll definitely be going with them next month in January, can't get them right now unfortunately.

Will be ordering from ecopowerparts (ordered there before, awesome shop!) I'll definitely pm you about it before I order, if the coupon would still apply in early January.
