I've got a '95 with MTX and throwout bearing sounds like it is starting to go. Have normally done most maintenance myself, but dropping transmission is a little too big of a job for me. Ten years ago...maybe...

Anyhow, I'm looking for a recommendation of a competent shop which does SHO work in the New Jersey or Philly area. Prefer something within 50 or 75 miles of Princeton.

Local Ford dealership (Capital City) seems barely competent. I wouldn't be comfortable letting them work on a 3.8L OHV Taurus. Haldeman is better and then have done some work on my F350 PSD, but at least they are honest and say they haven't seen too many SHO's.

I have heard of a guy in North Bruswick, NJ but don't know much about them. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Please PM me.

You might consider buying the Clutch Install Video from SHONUTPerformance, it will give you an idea of what is involved in the project, and even if you decide to have someone else do the job, at least you won't go into the transaction completely blind.

I'm not sure, but I think a clutch job on a SHO might be something a local shop or even the dealer could handle competently, as long they know exactly what is supposed to get done. And there's a better chance of that happening if you know exactly what's supposed to get done.

Just a thought.
