So I remember reading before that our master cylinders are inadequate for large brakes due to the small bore. I notice that there's a full hydroboost kit on ebay for a 96-98 cobra. Has anyone ever tried something like this? There's no doubt it'd fit since the only modifications needed would be to possibly change the bolt pattern in the firewall and rebend some brake line. As far as the hydroboost, any thoughts? It's just a couple hydraulic lines away from hooking up.

There was a guy at this years convention that was from Texas - he had a white Turbo SHO and was using a hydroboost unit. I don't remember what it was off of, but he said he loved it - much more line pressure sooner than the vacuum boost !

To be honest, that's the first time I've heard that. There are plenty of examples of Taurii around with big brakes using the stock MC. I've not run across anyone complaining about the MC from a performance pov.

You should be good up through a Cobra style PBR setup. If you go to a 6 piston Willwood, you might run out of booster.

Well the reason I'm asking is I have to replace the MC anyways, and for under $100 it'd be worth doing the cobra setup if it works. Wouldn't you agree?

Matching the MC to the piston areas on the calipers, both front and back, is fairly important. I'd be reluctant to change to a different MC without doing the homework on how it's going to affect the system.

Most of the brake upgrades are seamless because the total piston area in the calipers doesn't change appreciably. Changing stroke characteristics by using a different MC may not give you the sort of change you're looking for.
