Light Switch

Has anyone ever noticed that when you turn your lights on manually (that is, not using the automatic light "thingy" - little drunk here, it's Christmas, beg pardon) the switch can be pulled out? I was wondering if Ford had intended our cars to be equipped with fog lights. I have a 98' Expedition that has the factory fogs in the bumper and to turn them on you pull out on the switch which appears to be identical to the light switch in my 97' SHO. If I were to install aftermarket fog lights, would it be possible to wire them up to the light switch and utilize this "pull out" feature? Or is this all for naught? Anyone ever tried this? Oh and by the way HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all the staff and members of SHOFORUM! Great tool for anyone who Loves these cars.

You could use the Expedition switch and then install the wiring and you then could use the headlight switch as a fog light switch.

The Taurus switch is gutted and there is no relay or wiring for the fogs.

Too bad, I cannot mess with the Expedition's switch, you see that is my wife's ride and she won't let me touch it LOL, anyway, if I did that, then the fogs would not work on the Expedition.

Well you could get another switch and replace the Taurus one. I just use a relay and when the parking lights are on the fog lights are on. This could easily be changed to the low beams turning them on too but then when the high beams are on then the fogs would go off.

The one thing that I hate about that Expedition is that when you have the fogs on and click the brights, the fogs go out. I like the idea of the fogs coming on when the parking lights are on and staying on even if the brights are on. Can anyone post specific instructions on this? I would like to add fogs but have never done this before.
Also, I saw the pic of the "Got Light?", with the limited space, how did you ever mount lights inside the front oval?

Get a lighting relay at any automotive parts store. Find the parking light wire loom, you probably need to remove the drivers side headlight to do this. Get one of those blue crimp tap connectors and tap into the brown wire. this is the feed for the coil on the relay, terminal 85, terminal 86 goes to a ground.

Terminal 30 is from a fused source of 12V+ capable of carrying 15 A or so and terminal 87 goes to the fog light hot wire.
