Hey guys, I need a little help from someone with a 3.2 ATX. I've taken apart my entire intake assembly for cleaning and powder coating and I've gotten the butterfly assemblies mixed up. They're both identical except for the way the vacuum hoses attach to the actuators. The actuators have an "R" and "L" printed on them.

Can I assume that the "L" means left side of the engine when facing the waterpump end, that would be the firewall bank??

Or does it make any difference other than the vacuum hose will be pointing in another direction. I'd hate to find out later that the hose routing will be a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

The perspective of the engine is relative to the belts being on the front end and the transmission being on the rear. That makes left to the front of the car and right being to the firewall. The routing of the secondary butterfly vacuum lines is from the tap on the rear plenum to the front tap of the black plactic accumulator tank, from the rear tap of the accumulator to the bottom tap of the solenoid, from the top tap on the solenoid to the T fitting under the idle air control valve, from the side post of the T to the rear bank secondary vacuum diaphragm valve and from the front post on the T to the front bank diaphragm valve.

Thanks Scott, I need to label things before I take them apart. It's a genetic deficiency that runs in my family. I remember taking apart my toy Jack-in-the-Box when I was 6 and it's been downhill ever since. Thanks again.

Yeah all the time. My wife got so tired of seeing me in the wrong color this the wrong match that, now she puts outs the clothes I should put on. I must have the fashion sense of a toaster.
She even matches the levi's to the greasiness of the work I'll be doing. Later
