Okay, here's my problem. My 93 MTX seriously lacks power in the morning when I turn it on, and the engine is cold. It lurches as aif there is not enough fuel going to the engine, even if I barely touch the gas. After the engine warms up, it drives fine and all unless I slam on the gas, no matter what the engine temp is. Then it starts lurching again like there is no gas. The only way I have found to accelerate pretty well is to press the gas to 75 or 80 percent and then it accelerates pretty well, but not as good as an SHO should. I thnk it may just need a tune up, but here is what I know.

I did the EEC self test a few times, and every time I got the following codes:

172 - HEGO sensor indicates system lean (RH)

542 - Fuel pump secondary circuit failure

Then the last time I did the EEC I got code 214 - CID (Cylinder Identification) circuit failure, but the engine lacked power even before I got the CID code, and I did the Cylinder balance test before and everything checked out fine. Now I can't do the balance test because no CID.

I also checked my front three spark plugs and the wells have some oil in them, but not alot.

What I think I will do is replace the well seals, plugs, wires, O2 sensors, and fuel pump, and that should fix my problem. I just what to see if anyone here knew of anything else that I shoul check. Like I said before, if I slam on the gas, the car won't accelerate at all. I need to fix this.

Thanks

FWIW, I get the 542 code on my blue one once in a while...and I have no problems with fuel delivery. People have mentioned on here that the 542 code doesnt seem to mean a whole lot. (at least nothing that has known to cause any problems.)

I agree with changing the fuel filter if you havn't recently. Also, clean your MAF. When I first bought my SHO it would bog and sometimes lurch if I gave it over even half throttle. I sprayed of the MAF with some electrical cleaner and it was like a whole new car.

I agree, sounds like a weak pump or a clogged filter. I think you can rent a fuel pressure guage from autozone or other parts places these days.
