can be if you want to get the best chance of success and remove the intake and valve covers and all that. There are short cuts to the seal behind the sensor but that can be hit and miss as far as leaking goes.

It is not that difficult, just make sure you use thin coat of RTV on the outside of the seal (I got to do it twice after it leaked the first time when I didn't use RTV). I followed the method on Sho Phoenix Project (use the drop box link to find the front 60K instructions, its a big document). The most time involved is removing parts so you can get at the sensor and cam seal.
