Hello everyone, I just recently purchased a 96' SHO and I am very excited. I bought the car with it not running and I was hoping to fix it. I have a decent amount of DIY experience working with cars. (mostly German cars but don't hold that against me)
As of right now the car is clearly not running on all 8 cylinders. I get misfire codes for 1,2,3 and 6 and I am in the process of pulling the intake manifold off so I can inspect the status of the cams.
I have started doing my homework on various forums and sites and know that these cars have cam related problems.
Right off the bat I need a good source for new car parts and there just seems to be a lack of any.....
Recommendations of parts websites are welcome.

I am anticipating the worst (bad cam and broken valves) but is there something simple besides the usual suspects?

That's a lot of misfire codes. I would suspect cams first as well. Coils go bad, I had a spark plug get spit out of the head & had to helicoil it back in. Sounded like a toasted motor when that happened. Look at the cams, take really clear pics to post if you're not sure. I assume you've seen pics of cam failure posted on the web already?

Try rcmautomotive.com. Ive gotten parts from them. Very helpful. They have V8 Engines and engine parts. If you need a whole engine i beleive they have them. Check out the Used Parts tab on the left of the screen. Good luck with your project. Also shosource.com has parts

update: I pulled the rear valve cover off and yep I have a busted exhaust cam. PO's did not weld the cams....... Most of the gaskets look fine but the PO lost 4 of the rear valve cover bolts and the EGR lines are all rock hard. Time to open up the wallet and get replacement parts.

Doesn't help that I'm in SC, but I do have two spare heads for a V8SHO in my garage. Any interest in them?

Sorry about your luck - that's crummy news.
