I'm new here, and new to SHO ownership, having recently purchased a '95 ATX w/130k. I drove home from work w/no problems, and after about 2 hours of sitting, the SHO won't go. It cranks but won't fire. It has been running great, but I think it is in need of a 120k service.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I did check the codes, nothing new from last week's check which revealed a 124,136,& 332.
I drove it for a week after these codes appeared, and I obviously can't run the KOER test since the engine won't run!

After more checking, it looks like I'm not getting any spark. No new codes, the crank and cams are turning, the tach goes up to about 3-400rpm when cranking, but no spark.

Anyone with some ideas?
Help!

Is your DIS module bad? You might want to swap it out for a new or known good one to see if that does anything.

In order to verify if you have spark take off a plug wire and find a ground and see if it arcs.

Check all your grounds, and the connections to the DIS and coil pack and make sure everything is intact. By any chance did you clean off your engine with water recently?

wood_e:
I did the arc test and no arc from 2 different plug wires, hence no spark.

Chris:
I've checked all the connections and grounds and they appear good. While I didn't wash the engine itself, I did run it through the car wash just before it stopped working. ????

This may be completely useless, but I ran into a very similar issue recently.

My dad drove his '98 Taurus (Duratec) through a huge puddle and it died and would not restart. After letting it sit to "dry out" for a few days (and after I charged the battery overnight) it started running, however a bit rough. After driving it for a while the SES light went out and the engine began running like normal again.

My theory is, if there is a short created by the water, it can drain the battery enough to prevent ignition or ground out something. I'm not sure if there was ANY spark or not (never checked) before I charged the battery, but the Duratec also runs on a DIS type system.

Just a guess.
