I am doing the upper 60K for the 1st time and it took me 2 hours to get the intake off. (Nice have a step by step from shophoenixproject-thanks!)
And it says after removing the intake clean the intake ports and "take some good carb cleaner and blast all that carbon out"

Is it ok to spray carb cleaner down into engine?
And what about the dirty ports on the intake mainfold?, If I spray carb cleaner wont all those rubber boots decay on the intake manifold?
Thanks, Jay

If you're going to replace all the gaskets on the intake (might as well if it's all out anyways, it's easy) you shouldn't have to worry about the couplers since they'll be out of the way when you clean it. If you're going to leave it all together I wouldn't bother to clean it until you plan on taking the intake completely apart, cleaning just what you can reach of the intake isn't going to make a big enough difference overall.

And I personally wouldn't spray carb cleaner down the ports, I think there was a small discussion on this in another thread, it'd wash down the cylinder walls of oil and cause more problems/damage than some intake port buildup ever would.

When its back together run it and get some seafoam and dump half the can in the throttle body. turn it off and give it a good 20-30min. start and pour the rest in. run it for an hour or so. stuff will clean out your intake and engine great. Good stuff.
