Installing new Thermostat

Hello all,

I bought a thermostat at Autozone the other day and told the guy the part # and temperature. Today i noticed that it was a 192F rated thermostat.

Should i take it back and get the 180F?

ps. I have a 95 mtx.

they don't make the 180 degree motorcraft thermostat anymore.

Make sure the jiggle valve is at 12o'clock.

I just got an 180 degree thermostat the other day at my local ford dealer...

I believe that they're still available, just not produced anymore. My 93 had a 88C or 192 in it, so that's what I put back in. I'm sure a 95 would have the same. I believe that sdpatt said something about running the engine hotter for emissions purposes.

i went through 2 ford dealships and a warehouse that supplies motorcraft parts and they didn't have the 180's anymore. The 192 will work just fine for you.
