I'm stumped. I have a need for a 12 volt electric oil scavange pump, but can't find one that is a good value. this is for a low mounted turbocharger.

so far, I have tried one of those electronic diaphram 'clicker' pumps and when that didn't work I got a vane-type holley RED fuel pump, based on a members experience. but they both don't pump enough and the car spits oil on the ground.

I do have a barrel valve that can meter oil into the turbo so i can set the flowrate, but it's an 'on/off' situation, either no oil comes out at all or too much for the pump to handle, and thats at idle. imagine 7000 RPM. I also have a small accumlator (~4 Cubic inch) wth a vent on top (where the overflow spills out).

so if anyone knows of a 12 volt, all-metal, gear-type pump that can flow 1-2 GPM, i'll try that next. I can 't seem to find one online, on ebay, or anywhere else. thats all that I can think of, any input? please!

You might try Westech. Don't know if this will help you.

yes, it does. thanks for the link, that must be a new company because they just showed up on my radar all of a sudden. if i can't find a pre-made one (a few quotes out right now) i'll make my own with a deep fryer filter pump and an electric motor.

I just want to not have to worry about it, and enjoy the car.

i guess free flow from teh engine (with the supplied turbonetics flow reducer) was too much oil. so I got a new flow control valve and set it. the car is pumping exactly 350ml/ min at idle now, money. found a all-metal 12 volt pump too, if that is to 'spensive i'll grab that westech pump. should be all set, thanks to the person who constructively replied.

You're not the only one with a Turbo project.......hehe

yep, quite a few as of late. next summer there should be more than a few done. it's going to be fun to see how different people do the same task, and how good it looks when they are done.

final update. I ended up with a tilton 40-524 ordered from summit for a total sum of $199.52. (next day delivery !!!) I did find gear pumps but they would not be well suited for life under an Ohio car (the rain/snow) which would cause them to die prematurely, defeating the purpose of an expensive pump.

the tilton is mostly plastic and has a very water resistant case. it is also a positive displacement pump with a rebuildable and replaceable buna-N piston diaphragm. Being that it is positive displacement I am going avoid the low flow problem I have had with 'slung-vane' and reed valve pumps I have had thus far. plus the port are 1/2", facilitating a mostly 1/2" id plumbing. this should be the 'don't have to think about it' solution I want.

I did not realize there was a turbo SHO project going on so close to home. If you ever get a spare moment let me know. I wouldn't mind checking this setup out. Are you doing this to the good ol' 89' or are you putting this on the ATX or something else I haven't heard about yet??

after a short test drive today  , I found that the titlon pump makes quite a bit of vibration and noise. if anyone considers this pump, it should be used with proper damping.

thats is, unless the muffer is louder and the car shakes from the engine anyway, then nevermind :naughty:

I would like to find out what kind of pump the STS kit uses for their oil return. Well....is it complete...and how does it run?

they have some kind of gear pump, i tried to contact them, but they are all at the sema show according to the awnsering machine.

complete, mechanically, maybe, almost. I may have to install the BOV i have, i was hoping i won't need one, but i heard the compressor chirp a bit on my test drive.

how does it run? it moves under it's own power, so yes. yesterday, I had no modest goal of having the car not catch on fire. I have to connect all my data loggers to it this week and zero in the tune before I can say if it drives well.

shosig, did you like the pics on that webpage?

I have 2 BOV's.......my neighbor gave them to me. I"m gonna try to get a hold of STS and see if they would just sell the pump. I saw one site there they do a remote kit on a Mustang, and they use a high flow fuel pump(Aeromotive). I saw the pics, and like the install......great job :thumb: . Sounds like you are taking your time and covering all of your bases. How much boost do you plan to run?

the waste-gate has a blue spring in it. I believe that's 11-15 PSI, I tried to check with my air compressor, but I couldn't tell decisively. after all the tubes it has to run though I'd bet on 9-12PSI in the intake. I don't have a gauge, so I may never know. and thanks.

so using a pump like this you would just need to drill 2 holes in the oil pan for the source and return right?
