I have a 90 SHO that has been having problems lately. First, I had to replace the alternator and battery because after sitting for a number of hours the car wouldnt start... no juice whatsoever. Got that fixed. Then, coming home from Carlisle last weekend the fuel pump failed... so I got that replaced and the car ran fine this week.... until today.
I get in the car... all the lights in the doors come one, so i dont think my new problem is electrical... anyway... i put the key in and try to turn the car over... the key goes, but no result... i hear noise (sounds sort of like a farting noise actually) and the tach jumps from zero to 500. all the electrical systems come on (radio, dash lights) but the tach does not move above 500rmps. i notice that when i step off the brake, some of the dash lights fade in and out like when the car is about to stall... what could this be? again, upon trying to start it up the tach goes from zero to 500 where it stays until i take my foot off the brake.. then it goes to about 400... release my foot, back to 500... it doesnt really sound like the engine is running at all.
if you can, please help. i am getting very fed up with my car and frankly dont trust a shop to tell me what is wrong with it. thanks.
